Best of 2019

We kicked off the year with these two young and in love sweethearts. We did their engagement session in the small town of Winona Lake, Indiana. Even though it was a cold and snowless day, the light came through the forest perfectly, casting such a dreamy scene.

Our first wedding of 2019! Daniel & Yeilyn had an early sparkler exit while it was still light out, and we drove them to a special spot to do sunset photos in the woods. I love this photo because I feel like it perfectly captures those freshly married feels!

Shooting Adam & Sarah’s engagement session and wedding was one of my favorite parts of the whole year. These two extremely smart (both are doctors), and they have the funniest personalities together. Anytime we get to see them it’s always so much fun! This photo was shows them authentically laughing together as they usually do, and it’s hands down my favorite.

This park near Columbus is one of my favorite secret places in Ohio. This was our first time seeing it in the winter, and it definitely did not disappoint! This sweet moment between Erin and Logan sitting on a blanket amidst the pines led to my favorite photo.

This photo to me is the epitome of a perfect winter couple photo. I think of Christmas in NYC, romance in the city, or a romance novel cover. These two nailed their session!

This was a special experience, we got to do Hannah & Trey’s engagement session at the same venue they would be getting married at in the fall. We got to take photos we would recreate on their wedding day, showing the different seasons of weather and life.

Izabelle wanted a short mini senior session with her purple hair, and then a more normal session later in the year. The wind was cold, the skies were grey, and it made her session feel dark and moody. I love this dramatic image of her!

Heather is my old manager from back when I worked a retail job! She hired me for a sunset downtown portrait session in 2018, and this year she hired me for a creative snowy session for her brand. I had the idea to mix smoke bombs into the mix, and I love how this image turned out.

Brooke is honestly an angel in my life. I discovered her over a year ago when I was searching for someone to do my hair extensions for my elopement. Not only is she the best in my hometown, but she was so kind and genuinely excited for me. Every time I went in I knew she was happy to see me. I was ecstatic when she decided to hire us to shoot her and Austin’s wedding!

Alissa is one of my besties from high school. I was in her wedding, but she moved to northern Ohio and unfortunately we aren’t able to see each other very often anymore. I was so excited when she hired me to take her and Nate’s two year anniversary photos, and we were able to catch up on marriage and life. They are now expecting their first baby in 2020!

We did a month long road trip all the way out to California to do several engagements sessions as well as attend a workshop. Mya & Chris were our first stop, they showed us around Tulsa and this is my favorite photo I took of them. I love how you can see “Take Me to Oklahoma” mural painted in the back.

It was fate that this couple found us! Two days before we left on our southwest trip, I got an inquiry from Rachel. They were getting married in Kentucky, but live in Austin, Texas. We had just enough time between our commitments in Oklahoma and Arizona to make a stop in Austin for their engagement session!

We get to see these two in just a few days and I’m so excited! We did their engagement session in Joshua Tree National Park, California. They’re getting married this weekend in Akron, Ohio! More of this session in a blog coming Saturday.

Adam and Sarah got married in Boulder, Colorado, and their first look really stands out to me. It was a completely private moment, and Adam moved to tears at the first sight of his stunning bride.

Janie was the maid of honor in the Ripley wedding, and is also Jeremiah’s sister! We knew we had to take advantage of their first time in the Rocky Mountains and do a snowy couple session there. This spot was so beautiful, but also very tricky because the slightest movement could send you sinking 4 feet into the snow underneath!

As you all know, I don’t do family sessions often, but for an old friend as special to me as Mckenna it has to be a yes. Mckenna and I met at a concert back in 2015, when Jeremiah and I were in line behind her and her boyfriend Elijah. We stayed in touch, I took her maternity photos, and then got to meet Joeigh in person for this session.

This was our first time trying this specific pose with a bridal party and it quickly became a favorite of ours! The joy brought out in this image, I knew immediately after taking it that it would be my favorite.

This is a whole story in itself, which you can read on their blog here. Long story short, three days before this proposal, I booked a flight out to LA to capture this special moment between Chad & Sophia. Their photos went viral over Instagram have been seen by millions of people!

I simply cannot get over the colors in this photo like WOW. There is nothing like the south in spring. Emily and DJ are also just so freaking cute, I can’t wait for their South Carolina wedding in 2020! I also blogged their engagement session, click here.

Hannah and I met through volleyball camp in high school, and hadn’t seen each other in probably 5 years. I was so excited to reconnect and meet her then boyfriend, now fiancé!

Brooke was a stunning bride with of course the most amazing hair. Their day was very rainy, but it stopped for just a few minutes during their bride and groom photos. We were able to step outside and get some photos in front of this beautiful blossoming tree!

These two are the coolest couple you’ll ever meet. I blogged their session which you can read here. This shot stands out in my mind for the epic misty golden light we got at this waterfall, a rarety!

A windy spring elopement in Ohio? Yes please! Yoojin has the most beautiful epic hair, and the wind decided to work with us perfectly for this rad photo. See their blog here.

I got to photograph Rachel and Nick’s proposal back in 2017, and now this year I got to take their first anniversary photos in Cade’s Cove while they were on a trip. See their proposal (and my editing glow up haha) by clicking here.

These two fun loving Nashville locals showed us this epic spot on a bridge with the best night view of the Nashville skyline. Afterwards we went to probably the best Italian food I’ve ever had! Love these two lots.

You may recognize these two from their moody NYC session last year! We just didn’t feel like we had enough time with them at their first session, so we decided to do another. We were their first house guests at their amazing new apartment in DC, and the in home vibes were incredible.

This photo is a perfect example of embracing the different types of weather on your wedding day, and the incredible results that can come out of it. Josiah & Noelle stayed outside until the rain started pouring down, and we got the most epic stormy couple photos I’ve ever taken.

If ya’ll know me… you know I LOVE dogs. So when these two said they wanted to bring their three pups to their engagement session, it was a big YES from us. Ended up with some craziness, but a whole lot of love.

Beers, waterfalls, puppers, and playing guitar with the love of your life, can you imagine anything better? Draza and Craig wanted to be totally relaxed on their session, and the photos that resulted were incredible. See more of their session here!

You may also recognize these two from their wedding in 2018! Well, they just had their first little one and we are so excited for them. He actually started kicking during their maternity photos, the joy you see on their faces is a completely authentic reaction.

Our day with Courtney and Brett was super epic. It started early in the morning in southern Ohio, and ended at sunset in northern Ohio! We took photos in Cuyahoga, and this tree especially is one of my favorites in the park. I adore the vibrant spring colors and the gentle moment shared between these two here!

These two recently got engaged! We did their session at a familiar park in Columbus, and the light worked perfectly for me to use aerosol for only a few minutes. Love anytime the light works in such an epic way like this!

Sierra chose the most beautiful bridesmaids dresses! The florals and colors were perfect, and to top it off we did their photos in a greenhouse! Adore mix matching bridesmaids dresses.

Danielle is also a photographer/videographer, Perry is a writer, and one of the most similar to Jeremiah people we’ve ever met. They shared similar interests in books and music, and connected immediately. We love these two!

Kevin and Serena and both military, and it was my first time seeing this tradition take place. Doesn’t this look like a timeless photo? I always aim to keep my photos and edits timeless, and I feel like this really nails that.

Phil & Ellen had a beautiful summer wedding in Cincinnati. During the heat of the day, we took them to a local park and Phil immediately started kissing all up on Ellen. Adorable, married feels!

This mama bird and her baby boy are very special to me. I love this moment shared between them in front of the window of their first apartment, a memory they’ll always treasure.

I have a whole blog on the Delk Wedding, but I chose this photo because I had to show off how beautiful Erin’s dress was. I got so many comments about how stunning this gown was, and she works it so well!

We took a two week break in the summer to head off to the PNW. During that time I last second picked up a second shooting job in Portland! I got to take her bridal portraits in front of this window overlooking a beautiful white building across the street. She was a picture perfect bride.

Kellie was a bridesmaid in the Jones wedding last year. She wanted her senior photos done by me downtown, so I showed her around the Oregon District where we lived. This was actually my first time taking photos in the OD since we moved there, such a fun experience!

Jennelle is Jerremiah’s sister and the sibling that is closest to him in age. She got married over the summer, and I took their wedding photos. I chose this photo because I was with Jennelle recently and saw it was her phone background, reminding me what a precious moment this was.

This carnival engagement session was so much fun, it felt more like a double date than a photo shoot. I adore this picture so much, literally wouldn’t change a single thing about it! See their blog here.

Mya had two dresses for her wedding day, and slipped into this gorgeous fitted dress for their sunset photos. The August light was soft, and this moment between them was softer.

Shelby & Riley are such a sweet couple, we loved getting to know them over the past year and a half. Shelby wanted some photos that emphasized her unique veil, and this photo ended up being one of my favorites.

Yosemite National Park is seriously one of the most magical places in the world. This was my second time shooting at this spot, but first time catching the perfect sunset. Already can’t wait to go back. See their epic anniversary blog here!

This photo was a random one I took on our 5 mile hike, but I just loved this real moment between them so much it immediately became my favorite. Hiking sessions are the best!

I love doing interesting and unique things with my seniors to bring out their beauty. Harsh light is something I love to play with, and crafting this image with Gabrielle was so much fun. I love the results!

Delanie’s session was so unique and one of my favorite senior sessions ever. I love her boho floral style, and these blue hour portraits turned out so cool.

Janessa and Justin got married in this adorable old Chapel in Indiana. The window light was especially incredible, and I wanted to get a photo that showed off the unique interior of this church.

Danny and Alli got married in Blackhawk, Colorado. Their ceremony location on this balcony was stunning, with mountain and forest views all around.

The light here is so unique and stunning. I love when light gets harsh and direct on the subject, and then the background clouds turn dark and moody. One of my favorite images of the year!

We traveled to Chicago to take photos in the same park that Melissa and Garrett got engaged at. This is that exact spot, where they decided to spend the rest of their lives together, and that’s why I chose this photo.

Lia has a classic elegant that reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. This photo shows her elegance and grace, such a stunning bride!

These two are twins! They’ve gone through every step of life together, and now they are graduating high school and going onto the next. I’m happy I met them and got to take their senior photos.

I love taking photos of redheads! Marissa had a unique freespirted style, I loved her big glasses and beautiful eyes. She felt like she belonged a dreamer amongst the flowers, and that why I love this portrait.

This is one of those magical first shots that you take and are like “WOW, that turned out so good!” This was me testing my settings while they talked to each other, and I just love the simple black background and how they stand out against it.

Draza & Craig had a beautiful intimate reception in a pine forest. The speeches were some of the most hilarious I’d ever heard, and you can see them enjoying their night under the patio lights.

The first signs of fall! I chose this photo because I love the framing of it, I don’t often put couples on different parts of a road like this, but everything in this photo worked together perfectly.

Fall in the Midwest beginning to show through. Jessica and Jonathan are so romantic, this photo looks straight out of a movie cover. I love the red tree popping in the background, the reflection of the water, and the way he’s sweeping her off her feet.

Hima reached out to my via Instagram about doing this session in Philly. We were passing through Philly a few weeks later and got to scheduling! Look at her beautiful red dress and how stunning these two are!

Annapolis, Maryland is a special date spot for these two. We just so happened to go on a day when there was a big boat show, but we still managed to sneak onto the dock for a few quick photos.

Right after their ceremony, it was time to head to family photos. Trey picked Hannah up and carried her off to the meet their families, such a sweet moment.

The way the sun was hitting through the trees, and this dreamy staircase up to the bridal suite, created the perfect scene for a bride and groom photo. I’m so glad I was able to incorporate a piece of their venue this way.

These two made all my spooky Phantom of the Opera dreams come true with their wedding. Black dress, black tux, masquerade reception, and smoke bombs in the forest. Yes. Please.

I adore this photo of Emily reading a letter from Jason before their wedding. She was a gorgeous bride, and the emotion she’s showing warms my heart.

This one is especially close to my heart. Violet is my neighbor, we live across the hall from each other and have made many beautiful memories this year. Being able to capture Aaron proposing to her was one of the best parts of my year, and I can’t wait to go to Ireland with them for their wedding!

This session stands out to me as one of the most colorful of the year! There is nothing like fall in the Midwest, and Abby gazing out at the vibrant orange trees captures that.

I took Lydia’s older siblings senior photos early last year, and now it’s her turn! We spent a day together at Hocking Hills, and this beautiful flowy dress made for some fun photos.

German Village in Columbus is always such a fun spot to shoot at, especially in the fall and spring. Playfully throwing leafs on each other and embracing as they fell made for a perfect candid moment.

Rachel is a wedding planner and it SHOWS. Her wedding was perfectly crafted up to every detail, I loved seeing her and Elliot be able to relax and enjoy this much anticipated day. Blog coming soon!

Autumn in Louisville, walking the roads in one of their favorite parks, and jumping on each others back. What a perfect day for engagement photos!

For these two’s engagement session, we traveled to this gorgeous park hidden away in rural Idaho. My favorite moment with these two was having them sit down and look out over the canyon, taking in the views.

This was actually the last photos we took for their engagement session! They wanted to do a champagne pop back at their Airbnb, and the sunset cast soft colors on the field. They popped the bottle and we celebrated the end of a successful day!

After shooting in Idaho, we drove all the way to North Carolina in our van to capture Lauren & Chance’s elopement in the mountains. The morning light was harsh and brought out the last pieces of autumn colors. I love seeing the red in the distant mountains!

I am so glad we met Alexis and Kyle. This wedding was one of the rare instances where we didn’t get to meet the couple in person before hand, but they made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We clicked with them so naturally, and this spot captures the essence of their Rhode Island wedding so perfectly!

Alice and I also go way back with each other. Jeremiah and I shot their wedding on our one year anniversary, and their first look especially stuck out to me. Jeremiah and I had our first look in a very similar spot, so this moment felt very full circle. Also, look at Jeremy’s reaction!

Hawaii wedding? Nah, this is Florida! One of my favorite places in the world, Sanibel Island. Their ceremony spot was so epic with these two palm trees framing them perfectly. Easily one of my favorite captures, but it’s so hard to choose from this wedding! Again, blog coming soon!

Finished off the year back in Ohio at a Christmas tree farm with these two. They are so sweetly in love, and I had such a wonderful time with them on their session.
